Brian first fell in love with brewing while he was living in England studying British politics and experiencing true "real ale", in the form of cask. Following college graduation, Brian made the move to Colorado where he took his affection for beer one step further. He volunteered at a brewery in Vail at night while operating ski lifts during the day. He soon became a paid employee and a full-time brewer. Through his work in Vail he met certain individuals who would later become his business partners. In 1993 he opened a brewpub in Oklahoma that grew to include a brewery and four satellite restaurants. After his success in the brewing/ restaurant industry he decided to escape the restaurant side of things and open a full production brewery in Austin, TX. On his 40th birthday he poured the slab for the location that would become Thirsty Planet Brewing Company.
Currently Thirsty Planet has a mashing/lauter capacity of 30bbl or 1,000 gallons. We began with only 3, 60bbl fermenters and that has evolved into 13, 60bbl fermenters. Our beer is currently sold on draft in 15.5 gallon and 5.2 gallon kegs and in 6 pk bottles (Thirsty Goat Amber only). We are distributed by Capitol Wright in 3 Austin counties (Travis, Hays, and Williamson).
